Coaching shaped by a real career on stage, in the studio and under the spotlight

Great vocal coaching has to work beyond the lesson room. It should help you deliver when the red light comes on, the studio clock is running or an audience is waiting.

Alex during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show.

For almost 30 years, I have worked as a professional singer, songwriter, producer and performer. I have toured internationally, recorded and produced in studios, performed on national television, represented the UK at Eurovision and worked everywhere from intimate venues to major festivals and high-profile events.

I am still an active working performer and producer, and I have coached singers since 2007. Every session draws on nearly 20 years of coaching and decades of first-hand experience: learning material quickly, protecting a voice through demanding schedules, working under pressure, commanding a stage and recovering when things do not go to plan.

Experience tested in the real world

My coaching is shaped by the realities of doing the job: long shows, difficult monitoring, studio pressure, television performances, nerves, tired voices and the need to deliver when it matters.

I have not learned only from success. I have learned from difficult shows, pressure, criticism, tired voices and moments when things did not go to plan. When I have failed, I have studied what went wrong, worked, learned and rebuilt. I do not coach from a spotless career. I coach from a lived one. I understand how exposed and personal singing can feel, and every difficult lesson has helped me guide other singers with greater honesty, insight and understanding.

What we can work on

Every session is shaped around your voice, your experience and what you want to achieve. We might focus on one immediate problem or connect several areas to create a more confident and reliable performance.

Vocal power and control

Build strength and freedom without simply forcing the voice or singing louder.

Range, tone and flexibility

Explore more of your voice and develop smoother, more responsive coordination.

Confidence and consistency

Understand what helps your voice work reliably, even when nerves or pressure appear.

Stamina and vocal reliability

Prepare for rehearsals, recording sessions and live shows without running out of voice.

Expression and stage presence

Move beyond getting the notes right and create a performance people believe.

Audition, recording and performance preparation

Refine material, solve problems and arrive ready to deliver when it matters.
